My corporate success story is one for the storybooks. I began my career at U.S. Surgical, earning numerous sales and management awards, and competed with my [now] wife for the top sales spot! Let’s just say her picture appeared in the annual report that year!
The constant in my story is my energetic approach to winning consensus and trust from my customers, teams, and leadership. This positive, can-do attitude has traversed a 30-year corporate medical device sales career.
At Guidant Corporation, I exceeded objectives in sales and sales management positions, built winning sales teams, directed the marketing for the stent business, and led the divestiture of a $92M business line.
After joining Abbott Vascular Devices as the National Director of Sales, I rebuilt and rebranded a sales force for one of the world’s leading medical device manufacturers. My accomplishments at Abbott include:
In 2007, Micrus recruited me to restructure, develop, lead, and re-engineer an entire sales force (including distributors) increase revenue, and improve company profitability. This effort led to huge success and Johnson & Johnson’s acquisition of Micrus in 2010 for $480M.
After the J&J acquisition, I headed Codman’s Eastern sales division, where I integrated the two sales teams into one cohesive group (integrating the Micrus team into the J&J LOB). I reorganized the territories, budgets, quotas, compensation, and key alignments and positioned the team for success.
From 2014-2017, I continued with J&J, gaining more responsibility leading a neurosurgery service line of Codman, driving approximately $120M in annual revenues, and delivering solutions to 300+ specialty dual-trained neurovascular surgeons, radiologists, neurologists, and thousands of medical practitioners worldwide.
In 2018, I took over as Director of U.S. Strategy and Strategic Accounts for Cerenovus, a division of Johnson & Johnson.
I believe in the power of education and networking. My continuing education includes an MBA, leadership courses at the Wharton School, Center for Creative Leadership, UCLA International Business Roundtable, Emory University Goizueta Business School, as well as numerous Johnson & Johnson, Guidant, and US Surgical Sales and Executive Training Courses.
The accomplishment I’m most proud of is my 30-year marriage and our three wonderful sons.
When I’m not winning new business or advising leaders, you can find me fly fishing, cycling, or following my sons’ sports.
